Honolulu County, HI Public Records

Honolulu County public records are defined as information generated by an agency in written, audio, or video form, which is open for general viewing. That is with the exemption of restricted records due to their confidential nature. Vital records such as birth, marriage, death, and civil union records are available for public viewing, provided one is an eligible requester. That is, close relatives, spouses, parents, and legal representatives. The Hawaii State Department of Health Vital Records presides over vital records. Birth and marriage records may be accessed online, but the death and divorce reports must be received through the mail. Vital records are priced at $10 a copy, as well. Hawaii’s Uniform Information Practices Act also allows for property record access in Honolulu County.

Find Inmate Search and Jail Records in Honolulu County, Hawaii

Honolulu County inmate records are also available for public viewing and inspection. These are generated and maintained by the police department or the Sheriff’s Division. Incidentally, these do not provide an online locator tool for finding inmates. Instead, the police departments post their arrest logs daily so record seekers may find inmates incarcerated. The logs are updated continually so individuals can check the website to locate inmates recently booked into the correctional facilities. If the inmates' information is unavailable, one may contact the sheriff’s department via phone for further details. It is also possible to visit inmates, though requesters would have to call the vitiation hotline to check the availability. Honolulu County has three jails and prisons serving 1.001 million residents.
