Description:
WCCC is the only women’s prison in Hawaii. It also serves the needs of pre-trial and sentenced female offenders. The facility houses female offenders who are of maximum, medium and minimum custody levels. WCCC offers a 50-bed gender responsive, substance abuse therapeutic community called Ke Alaula. Other offerings included a cognitive-based curriculum, parenting and educational classes, domestic violence treatment, day reporting and electronic monitoring programs. Project Bridge is a program designed to assist female offenders with transitioning back to society through employment, education and substance abuse after care treatment. In addition to in-facility programs, WCCC participates in many community service projects for state, county agencies and non-profit organizations.
